August 3, 2007 (Khonumthung News): The Burmese police rounded up around 70 Chins from the Five Star sea port in Taketa Township in Yangon on July 17. They were waiting to board a ship leaving Kawt Taung town, Taninsary division, the southern Burma’s border with Thailand.

August 1, 2007 (Khonumthung News): In Burma the military junta’s ban on logging of hardwood is being blatantly flouted by army personnel in Chin state with the regime turning a blind eye. Troops are into rampant felling of trees. They then sell the hardwood in the domestic markets for extra revenue for the Burma Army.

July 30, 2007 (Khonumthung News): Chin state employees of the Myanmar government are being forced to replant over 7,000 acres with Jatropha trees destroyed in a forest fire in 2005. The order to involve government employees from various departments has come from the Township Peace and Development Council (TPDC) authorities.
