10 August 2007 (Khonumthung News): Several Burmese refugees from Chin state, Burma living in Bartam Valley in Cameron Highland, Malaysia were reportedly rounded up by the Malaysian government on Wednesday.

10 August 2007 (Khonumthung News): A Burmese weaver committed suicide on Wednesday morning in Mizoram state of northeast India. Ko WinTin Aung (30) who was working at K. Vanlalngena’s handloom in Ramhlun south Aizawl, capital of Mizoram state hanged himself with a rope in his work place, sources in Aizawl said.

New Delhi, August 06, 2007: The spectre of bird flu continued to haunt the Northeast, with mysterious bird deaths reported from Mizoram and Tripura, fuelling speculation that the avian virus may have spread to newer areas in the region.

Troops are into rampant felling of trees. They then sell the hardwood in the domestic markets for extra revenue for the Burma Army.
