Aizawl, April 27, 2007: Elaborate security arrangements were made in view of the 12-hour three opposition party-sponsored bandh that began from five am today, Aizwal district SP L T Hrangchal said here.
Hrangchal said that deployment of Police and Magistrate in all the sensitive areas had been arranged to ensure that no untoward incident occurred during the bandh.
The bandh is being organized jointly by the youth wings of the Congress, Mizoram People’s Conference and Zoram Nationalist Party in protest against ‘misrule’ of the Mizo National Front (MNF) government in the state.
The Opposition Parties accused the state government of harbouring insurgents, smuggling arms to militants to get political mileage and neglecting the poor farmers and the youths.
